Module 4: Disaster Risk Reduction and Development Planning

The module provides understanding about the methods of identifying and assessing risks that result from extreme events. Measures that can reduce such risks and inter-linkages between these risks and development processes have also been included. The module integrates disaster risk reduction with climate change action. The module introduces quantitative and qualitative methods for risk assessments and guides the participants through different tools for Social Impact Assessment and Environment Impact Assessment. The module emphasizes on the importance of mainstreaming disaster risk reduction in development planning while looking issues of gender and focussing on community based DRR.
