Programme Structure

The certificate course is of 22 credits divided across 8 modules on diverse theoretical and practical aspects of disaster management, through several sessions and units. The certificate programme is be completed within one-year from its commencement and is in an online mode with several contact meetings and discussions.


Each session in a module has compulsory readings, and is further supplemented with session notes on topics, including case studies and other audio-visual material from diverse contexts. The programme is designed specifically keeping in mind time constraints of a working professional and is well paced. Every module will have certain graded tasks such as assignments/discussions/quizzes etc., to be completed within stipulated time frames. The Programme also guides participants through assignments and supports a research paper which in itself also constitutes a module. Similarly, an entire module is dedicated to a 4 week long guided field bases attachment (an internship), which the participant has to complete in a disaster management related field his/her choice.
